It’s August! It has been a great summer at the beach, and our guests are starting to think about fall. But before we get there, there are still many, many days of open doors that allow us to take advantage of the late summer warm evenings that are so perfect for sharing with great friends, fun and flavorful food, and BIG drinks!

As we move into the later stages of summer, we get a lot of questions about what are some favorite menu items for this time of year. So here are some of our favorites, in no particular order, for this time of year!

We will start with our Tree Hugger Nachos. Available in a personal (ideal for 1-2 people) or shareable size (perfect for 2-4 people), the Tree Hugger Nachos feature sautéed vegetables, corn, seasoned black beans, queso, blended cheese, black olives, shredded lettuce, and Pico de Gallo. This offering tends to be extremely popular among our vegetarian guests, but we like to take full advantage of the late summer harvests and enjoy the perfectly fresh veggies. Adding those veggies layered on fresh corn chips with the great flavor of question and other cheeses sets you up for a palate-pleasing feast that is perfect for sharing with your entire table.

Next up is our Hip-jita Fajitas. Everyone loves the flavors and the visual appeal that fajitas bring to the table. On top of the visual appeal, the fact that you get your choice of protein, Chicken, Shrimp, or Steak, makes us really excited to offer this dish to you. We pair your protein choice with sautéed peppers, onions, and sides of yellow rice and seasoned black beans, served with sides of guacamole, Pico de Gallo, cilantro, onion, pepper jack cheese, fresh lime, and your choice of corn or flour tortillas. This meal is exciting, satisfying, and a perfect want to enjoy time with friends.

While not generally thought of as containing summer flavors, the next choice is hard to ignore: grilled steak is a summer favorite. Our Ka-Ka-Ka-Kia Taco features grilled steak glazed with soy garlic ginger sauce, Kimchi, Sriracha, and sesame seeds. This taco has punchy flavors that remind you of the hot summer days we have recently worked through, but they meld so well together that it is hard not to make this option a year-round favorite. The  Ka-Ka-Ka-Kia Taco can be ordered by itself, or you can order multiple tacos and make them a platter by combining the tacos with your choice of 2 sides: yellow rice, sautéed veggies, or seasoned black beans.

The next offering will throw some of you for a loop. First, it is rare to find French fries on the menu at many Mexican-style restaurants, but we are ‘nacho average’ Mexican joint. Our Hip Fries take things to a different level. You can find them on the appetizer section of our menu, but they can be a whole meal all on their own. The Hip Fries feature hand-cut style fries piled high with queso, slow-roasted pork, blended cheese, Pico de Gallo, and banana peppers. Yep, you read that right. SLOW-ROASTED PORK on fries. This offering is built similarly to our nachos but is an aggressive play on typical cheese fries … with a lot more flavor and pure yum.

Every great night out with friends deserves an equally great cocktail. We recommend you consider our Tickle My Mango. The tropical flavors that make this drink remind you of summer with every sip. The Tickle My Mango features 3 Olives Mango, agave, pineapple, and orange juice. Just sweet enough to truly enjoy, but more than enough flavor to enjoy every taste.

As you join us for lunch or dinner on these amazing remaining summer days and nights, we hope these choices will satisfy you as much as they do us. Bring your family, bring your friends to Nacho Hippo. We are ready to provide you with the perfect dining experience through the perfect blend of flavors that will leave you satisfied and smiling.
