Nacho Hippo is probably not the first place you think of when dieting.  But you may be pleased to hear that we have several options that can help you stay on track in the New Year.  There are certainly plenty of distractions.  Your social feed will be flooded with top 10 lists, diet fads, and doubters.  It is a constant barrage of negative information for anyone attempting to walk the healthy line.  Nacho Hippo believes that just because you are trying to eat healthily, that doesn’t mean your food should taste boring.  Quite the opposite.  We want you to love your food.  Here are some options you can choose that will keep you on the right side of healthy.

First, from our TRIPPY DIPS section, you will find two options.  The Salsa Sampler – Fire-roasted salsa, salsa verde, and mango habanero salsa served with fresh tortilla chips and the Triple Crown Sampler – Our top three dips: guacamole, fire-roasted salsa, and queso dip served with new tortilla chips.  Salsas are rich in vitamins C and A. These vitamins help to increase collagen production in the body, which can create more lustrous skin and also assist in thyroid function and regulation.

The next choice is our Nacho Hippo Grande Salad – Fresh greens, black beans, corn, Pico de Gallo, blended cheese, and black olives, served in a crisp tortilla shell.  Just because it is served in a crispy tortilla shell doesn’t mean that you have to eat it.  Focusing on greens and vegetables is always a smart plan for a healthy diet, and this salad is packed with them!  Looking to add some protein, we encourage the seared tuna.  Tuna contains healthy omega 3 essential fatty acids and many complex vitamins and minerals.

Three options come to mind from our taco offerings.  The Baja Fish Taco – Grilled, fried, or blacked fish, crisp slaw, and spicy bangin’ sauce.  The Veg Head Taco – hummus, mixed greens, banana peppers, black olives, Pico de Gallo, and cilantro lime vinaigrette.  The Mrs. Daisy Taco – Fried green tomatoes, mixed greens, pimento cheese, spicy bangin’ sauce, and red peppers.  These tacos are high on flavor but focus on putting many vegetables compared to heavy sauces or fatty cheeses.

Next, we recommend checking out our Good Stuff Quesadilla- blended cheese, bell peppers, and onions.  We use cheeses that are low in fat and focus more on peppers and onions to deliver flavor and long-lasting fulfillment!  There is nothing weak about this bountiful offering.

The next option might sound a bit odd if you don’t read the full menu description.  Our Sloppy Burritos…but skip the tortilla and pack a bowl with yellow rice, seasoned black beans, Pico de Gallo, sour cream.  Then choose between chicken & monterey jack, slow-roasted pork & monterey jack, taco beef & cheddar, or sautéed veggies & queso fresco.  We utilize low-fat proteins and cheeses combined with complex carbs on a large bed of vegetables.  Skipping the tortilla will save you more than 200 calories without costing you any flavor!

The last item on our list we recommend you share with a friend.  Even if you order the personal size, our Tree Hugger Nachos – sautéed vegetables, corn, seasoned black beans, queso, blended cheese, black olives, shredded lettuce, and pico de gallo are enough for two people.  Packed full of flavor and vegetables, these nachos are an excellent option.  It is always best to swap calorie-dense meats for healthy veggies high in vitamins and minerals.

These are just a few of the many, many options on our menu at Nacho Hippo.  We hope you find them as appetizing as we do, and if you are trying to make healthier choices, we want you to know that we thought about you too.  Nacho Hippo has something for everyone!
