Sandwiches? At Nacho Hippo? But they are a Tex-Mex restaurant. What kind of sandwiches could they have? Thanks for asking! We actually do have a few sandwiches on the menu. Let’s talk about sandwiches this month.

Depending on your definition of a sandwich we have more than just a couple of options, but even though quesadillas fit the definition, you would be hard-pressed to get anyone to agree with you. By definition, a sandwich is an item of food consisting of two pieces of bread with meat, cheese, or other fillings between them and typically eaten with the hands. So one could argue that a quesadilla is a sandwich…… but we couldn’t argue that without a sarcastic smirk.

On to our real sandwiches!

When you look at our SPECIALTIES section of our menu, you will see three options that are not like the other offerings on our menu. These items are on the SPECIALTIES section of our menu because they are special. We put a lot of heart and soul into the creation of these items and we love to share them with you.

First up is the Burger Maximo! Taking a cue from our sister restaurant, River City Cafe (www.rivercitycafe.com), this sandwich features a seasoned premium beef patty, topped with shredded lettuce, tomato, and onion on a toasted bun with a side of fries. Want to spice it up a little? You could always add pepper jack cheese, guacamole, jalapenos, bacon, or mushrooms to put this burger over the top! This menu item was created because we know there are picky eaters out there. We know that not everyone loves nachos, tacos, and quesadillas. We don’t understand it, but we do know those people are out there. We want to welcome everyone to dine with us and this ensures that you can bring your whole party to dine with us, even if you have that one picky eater that needs a burger!

Next up: the Fried Clucker! This sandwich features a fried boneless chicken breast topped with shredded lettuce, tomato, and onion on a toasted bun and served with fries. This may be an even better option for a plain eater than the Burger Maximo, but if you are just in the mood for a great chicken sandwich, this offering should grab your attention! If it is too plain, we can really “Fire It Up” by adding jalapenos, mango habanero sauce, and pepper jack cheese. It is a completely different sandwich when you add those flavorful toppings. Just make sure your glass is full before you get started.

Each of these delicious sandwiches comes with a side of fries, but what else would you order to compliment them. How about some Grilled Corn on the Cob? Hard to pass up a piece of grilled corn when it is covered in sour cream spiked with Cajun seasoning and queso fresco. Maybe some of our Peter’s Pickled Peppers? Those lightly and flash-fried banana pepper rings and ranch dressing offer a perfect bite of “YUM” many times over. Or maybe you prefer to start with our Bangin’ Shrimp appetizer featuring fried shrimp tossed in our spicy Bangin’ sauce, served on shredded lettuce in two crisp tortillas boats and topped with mango Pico de Gallo!

Regardless of how you prepare yourself for our Sandwiches, we are sure you will enjoy them. Come join us at Nacho Hippo, even if you have a picky eater. We have Nachos, Tacos, Quesadillas, Burritos, Sandwiches and more. Regardless of what you come to Nacho Hippo for, we have something for everyone!
