At Nacho Hippo we are privileged to get new visitors almost every week. That is one of the benefits of being located in a tourist destination, but it also means we need to let people know what they should be trying on our menu since they may have never dined with us before. Our blog this month is dedicated to pointing out some must-try menu items that may not be the most popular items, but definitely deserve a spotlight of their own!

Our Salsa Sampler and our Triple Crown Sampler get a lot of attention from our starter menu, but you shouldn’t overlook the Peter’s Pickled Peppers. This delicious appetizer features lightly breaded and flash-fried banana pepper rings served with ranch. The peppers provide a mild sweetness that pairs especially well with the creamy buttermilk flavor of the ranch dressing. This is a great way to start your meal with us at Nacho Hippo.

Next up: Ka-Ka-Ka-Kia Tacos. So you want a taco, but you want something different. Something you can’t just create any time, but something that is going to make you smile. Something smooth, but with flavor. Something with a little bite, but not outrageous. Enter the Ka-Ka-Ka-Kia Taco.  This taco features grilled steak glazed with a soy garlic ginger sauce, kimchi, sriracha, and sesame seeds. It is a party for your mouth!

The next item we will feature might have some people scratching their heads. You don’t necessarily go to a Tex-Mex style restaurant for a sandwich. Well, we think that the Fried Clucker can change your opinion on that. This sandwich features a fried boneless chicken breast with shredded lettuce, tomato, and onion on a toasted bun and is served with french fries. Looking for something hotter? You can fire it up by adding jalapenos, mango habanero sauce, and pepper jack cheese!

While we are on the topic of chicken…. Let’s talk quesadillas. You have to try our What the Cluck! quesadilla. Shredded chicken, corn, seasoned black beans, blended cheese, and pico de gallo wrapped into a large tortilla and pressed flat while the cheese melts everything together….. I get hungry writing about it! We offer five different quesadillas on our menu. Each one of them is served with shredded lettuce and pico de gallo. Want some salsa and sour cream? All you have to do is ask for it! If you are curious about quesadillas, you can read more about them here.

The last suggestion we will add to our list this month is our Tree Hugger Nachos. The Bangin’ Shrimp nachos get all the attention and praise, but the Tree Hugger Nachos are more than able to stand on their own. This layered delight features sautéed vegetables, corn, seasoned black beans, queso, blended cheese, black olives, shredded lettuce, and pico de gallo.

These five items are some of our favorites at Nacho Hippo, but we want to know, what are your favorites? What do you look forward to ordering when you come to visit? What items do you recommend to your friends when you tell them to visit us?
